About The Pony Club

The Pony Club is an international voluntary youth organisation for young people interested in ponies and riding. Founded in England in 1929, and granted independent charitable status on 1st January 1997, there are around 345 Branches and 540 Centres in the UK alone.

The Pony Club has been the starting point for a large majority of equestrian team members and medal winners.

The Pony Club is represented in no less than 27 countries with a worldwide membership exceeding 110,000 making it the largest association of young riders in the world.

The objectives of The Pony Club are:

to encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding

to give instruction in riding and horsemastership and to educate Members to look after and to take proper care of their animal

to promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty to create strength of character and self-discipline
Our Pony Club is a really great way of learning to ride, understanding how to care for horses, gaining recognised badges and awards, making lots of likeminded friends and having loads of fun!

We divide our Pony Club into 3 categories:

  1. MINI PONY CLUB- Suitable for age 5-9 year olds. Time: 4.30pm-6pm
  2. JUNIOR SADDLE CLUB- Suitable for age 10-12 year olds.  Time: 6pm-7.45pm
  3. TEEN PONY CLUB (Young Equestrians)-Suitable for 13-18 year old Time: 6pm-8pm

We run our Pony Club every Monday night, course by course (usually 8 weeks) by qualified staff who are very experienced with children. Each session is well structured and organised and all activities are fully supervised throughout. We try to keep our costs affordable and have managed to keep our price to only £13 per session (minimum time: one hour and a half)

All sessions are grouped into age and ability which means we can accommodate all levels of rider from beginners to advanced.

Each session is made up of:
Half hour riding
Half hour practical learning on current topic
Half hour theory learning on current topic
(These times are approximate)

The Pony Club membership is required- £26 per year (application forms can be provided)

All members must wear a Pony Club uniform (available at our office)

Our Teen Pony Club Follows The Young Equestrian structure

Young Equestrians aims to provide young people with a weekly two hour session where they can make new friends, gain experience that can be incorporated into their CV, get the opportunity to ride and take responsibility for their own learning.

For the first hour of every session, we work towards YELA (Young Equestrian Leaders Award) Bronze, Silver and then Gold which involves volunteering within the Equine industry.

For the second hour we work towards The Pony Club’s efficiency tests starting at level D. We ride for an hour every other week and work towards our stable management every other week.

The cost for the two hour session is just £13.

Registration costs are required: YELA £14- Bronze level

The Pony Club £26 per year
